Photos from Falla Park Community Primary School's post🫏 A fabulous day for Year 4 🫏 Year 4 had an amazing day at Acton Farm today. They fed some donkeys, chickens and a pig! The cows were a bit wary to come too close though! The main topic of the day was poo! Farmer Dan showed the children how useful it is for the crops and explained how the nutrients went into the soil making it richer and how it helped better crops to grow. The children also went pond dipping and went exploring and investigating in a field then examined what they found under the microscope. They also recapped learning from science lessons about vertebrates and invertebrates. Thank you to Farmer Dan and Debbie at The Country Trust for a great visit. 4 Comments 7 Likes
Photos from Falla Park Community Primary School's post⭐️What a fantastic few weeks Year 5 have had!⭐️ We are so proud of the hard work, enthusiasm and determination they have shown across all areas of the curriculum. ➗ In Maths, the children have been developing their understanding of decimals, using their reasoning skills to solve a range of challenging problems. 📚 In English, they have written biographies about David Attenborough. The children worked hard to include key grammatical features such as relative clauses and possessive apostrophes, producing some impressive pieces of writing. 🎶 In Music, they have been learning to play the glockenspiels, developing rhythm, timing and performance skills. 🔬In Science, the children have been investigating forces through a range of exciting practical experiments. They tested friction by racing cars down ramps with different surfaces at the bottom and explored air resistance by testing how quickly parachutes fall from different heights. 🏀 In PE, they have begun learning the skills needed for basketball, focusing on dribbling and ball control. It has been wonderful to see the children showing curiosity, resilience and teamwork in all of their learning. We can't wait to see what they achieve next! ⭐ Well done Year 5! ⭐ 2 Comments 3 Likes
Photos from Falla Park Community Primary School's post🎓🎭 Year 6 Creative Arts Focus Week 🎭🎓 Our Year 6 class have had an amazing opportunity working alongside Into University Gateshead on their Creative Arts Focus Week. Together with the staff from IntoUniversity they have explored the career opportunities of working in the creative arts industry and we’ve been busy! 🎨 On Monday, we completed a carousel of activities looking into four different art types - including fashion design, sculpting, story telling and art to make a change. 🎭 On Tuesday, the children visited the Theatre Royal. They had the opportunity to explore four different careers, including marketing, lighting technician and a stage manager. They even had a backstage tour of the theatre and had the chance to stand on the stage. 🍃After a competitive prospectus race on Wednesday, the children thought about their own future and designed their university leaf. We loved seeing the big dreams of our children and know they can achieve them. ✍️ A local artist and gallery owner visited the children on Thursday. We looked at the work of Charlie Rogers and created our own illustrations using a biro like Charlie. 🎓 Finally, the children graduated from Newcastle University in front of our parents and carers on Friday. We wore our cap and gowns and shared our learning from the week with them. We’d like to thank Bonnie, Laura, Marcus and Carolynne from IntoUniversity Gateshead for the fantastic opportunity this week. We have loved it! 3 Comments 10 Likes

Photos from Falla Park Community Primary School's post🐬 In Year 2 this week … 🔥 Year 2 have been learning about The Great Fire of London in History. They have learnt that the fire began on Sunday, September 2, 1666 and the fire started in a small bakery owned by Thomas Farriner on Pudding Lane. A small spark from the oven fell onto some dry wood and started the flames while the family slept. The fire spread so fast because most houses in London were made of wood and straw or thatch roofs, which burned easily. The strong winds blew the sparks from house to house and people used leather buckets, water squirts, and axes to fight the fire. This week the children have been harvesting their knowledge by using books, facts sheets and pictures to create interesting posters about The Great Fire of London. 🔢 In Maths, the children have been learning about place value. They have been making towers of 10 with cubes to show how many tens make up multiples of 10. They now know that 2 tens = 20 and 9 tens = 90 and many more facts. They enjoyed making 10 towers and they know all of the multiples of 10! 💚 The children have also been exploring feelings. They talked about that we have feelings all the time and sometimes those feelings make us feel good, or comfortable and sometimes they don't. They played ‘Feelings charades’ – where someone stands in front of the class and mimes a ‘feeling’ with their face and body. The children were asked to think of an uncomfortable feeling. They shared ideas and made posters for how we could help someone feeling this way. Great work Year 2! 4 Likes

The children were able to talk about sharing, friendship and feelings. 🌳The children have loved working in forest school, picking apples and pears from the trees. They loved using the spades to dig holes and develop their arm strength. ✏️The children have been busy indoors too - counting, doing jigsaws, painting, drawing, reading, being shop keepers, making models, using play dough and lots more. 🍽️ The children have coped brilliantly having lunch in the hall with their friends too. They have been working hard to use their knife and fork. What a brilliant start to ‘big school’ for the Busy Bees. We are very proud of them 💛 1 Comments 3 Likes
Photos from Falla Park Community Primary School's post🌟 Year 3 – Brilliant Day at Beamish! 🌟 Despite the rain, nothing could dampen our spirits on our exciting trip to Beamish today! 😊 ⛏️Year 3 took part in a fascinating workshop called 'Just One Spark', where we learned about the Felling Pit Disaster and discovered how different life was for people living in Felling many years ago. The children were even lucky enough to hear from a retired miner, who shared stories about what it was like working deep underground and the challenging conditions miners faced. They also explored the pit village and learned how coal was transported around the area. 🏘️ Next, the children stepped back in time as we visited the Victorian Town. They found out how sweets were made, how beautiful dresses were created, and how families shopped for their groceries in the past. It was amazing to compare life then with life today! 🚋 To finish our adventure, we enjoyed a ride on one of Beamish's famous trams! 1 Comments 8 Likes

The children have enjoyed learning new poses, improving their balance, and practising mindfulness and relaxation. 🌈✨ 🎃 In DT, the children received an exciting message from Greggs the bakers asking for their help! Photos from Falla Park Community Primary School's post🦔 The Hedgehogs have had a fantastic week in Year 1 🦔 🌟The children have been very busy exploring lots of different subjects for the first time and have impressed Mrs Buckley and Mrs Errington so much! 🕒In Maths, they have been learning how to read the time to o'clock and have had lots of practice using individual clocks. 🎨The children loved showing off their creative skills in Art while exploring spirals, inspired by the artist Molly Haslund. Using oil pastels, they created some wonderful spiral artwork and enjoyed experimenting with different colours, patterns and shapes. 📖In History, they have been learning about how children change over time and in Science they have been identifying and naming different parts of the body. 👀👂👃🦶 🎨The children also decorated their class canvas using their fingerprints, with everyone creating their own little hedgehog! This will be displayed in the entrance to school. 🌿To top it all off, the children received a copy of the Nature Explorers book, which features their artwork that was entered into a competition last year when the children were in Reception. Photos from Falla Park Community Primary School's post🐆 A Fantastic Start for our Year 6 Leopards 🐆 🫱🏻🫲🏼 In PSHE, the children have reminded themselves of our School Values and what they can do to demonstrate these in Year 6. We also looked at teamwork skills as we worked in groups to try and build the pyramid by only using string and an elastic band. 🧮 During Maths, we’ve used our practical resources as we created a pie chart to represent our birthdays and clocks to solve some tricky time problems, which included converting between the 24-hour and 12-hour clock. ✏️ In English, we’ve started to think about how we will create our non-chronological report on Mountains. We developed our reading skills by exploring our key text and retrieved key information from different sources on Mount Everest. We’ve had a very busy start to Year 6, we wonder what the next two weeks will bring us 🤔 2 Comments 2 Likes
